Isaiah 28:27

"For his God instructs him in right judgment and teaches him."

Key Reflection

Isaiah 28:27 emphasizes that those whom God chooses for a specific task, such as prophets or leaders, receive both instruction and guidance directly from Him. This means they are equipped with the wisdom needed to make righteous decisions and carry out their duties effectively. The verse underscores the idea that these individuals do not rely on human reasoning alone but have divine assistance in understanding and executing their roles, ensuring that their actions align with God's will and serve the greater good of His people.

For the fitches are not threshed with a threshing instrument -The word used here (חרוּץchârûts) denotes properly that which is pointed or sharp, and is joined withמורגmôraginIsaiah 41:15- meaning there the threshing dray or sledge; a plank with iron or sharp stones that was drawn by oxen over the grain (compare2 Samuel 24:22;1 Chronicles 21:23). In the passage before us, several methods of threshing are mentioned as adapted to different kinds of grain, all of which are at the present time common in the East. Those which are mentioned under the name of the ‘threshing instrument,’ and ‘a cart wheel,’ refer to instruments which are still in use in the East.
