Isaiah 28:13

"to whom he said, “This is the resting place. Give rest to the weary,” and “This is the refreshing;” yet they would not hear."

Key Reflection

In Isaiah 28:10, God offers a promise of rest and refreshment through metaphors, but the people reject this offer, preferring instead to rely on their own lies and falsehoods for comfort, thus missing out on the true spiritual rest that God provides.

From the Scholars: Barnes' Notes

But the word of the Lord was unto them -Or, rather, but the word of Yahweh “shall be” unto them. This refers to the mode in which God said He would instruct them in a foreign land. They had complainedIsaiah 28:9-10that his instructions had been like a short lesson constantly repeated, as we instruct children.
