Acts 5:13

"By the hands of the apostles many signs and wonders were done among the people. They were all with one accord in Solomon’s porch."

Key Reflection

In Acts 5:13, the phrase highlights the remarkable impact of the apostles' ministry through divine signs and miracles. These acts not only demonstrated the power of God but also attracted a large number of people to gather in Solomon's porch, a common meeting place for worship and discussion. The unity and collective presence of these believers there underscored their shared commitment to the faith, reinforcing the growing influence of early Christianity in Jerusalem.

From the Scholars: Barnes' Notes

Verse 13. And of the rest. Different interpretations have been given of this expression. Lightfoot supposes that by the rest are meant the remainder of the one hundred and twenty disciples of whom Ananias had been one; and that they feared to put themselves on an equality with the apostles. But this interpretation seems to be far- fetched. Kuinoel supposes that by the rest are meant those who had not already joined with the apostles, whether Christians or Jews, and that they were deterred by the fate of Ananias.
