Psalms 78:70

"He built his sanctuary like the heights, like the earth which he has established forever."

Key Reflection

In Psalms 78:70, the verse speaks of a divine architect who establishes God's sanctuary as firmly and enduringly as He has created the earth itself. This imagery conveys a profound sense of permanence and stability, suggesting that just as the physical world stands firm under God’s care, so too does His sacred dwelling place—both the tabernacle and later the temple—reflect this eternal and unshakable foundation.

He chose David also his servant -He chose him that he might set him over his people as their king. The idea is, that David was selected when he had no natural pretensions to the office, as he did not pertain to a royal family, and could have no claim to such a distinction. The account of this choice is contained in1 Samuel 15:1-30. And took him from the sheep-folds -From the humble occupation of a shepherd.1 Samuel 16:11;2 Samuel 7:8.
