Matthew 26:10

"For this ointment might have been sold for much and given to the poor.”"

Key Reflection

This statement highlights the tension between personal piety and communal responsibility, suggesting that while it was noble to anoint Jesus with such precious ointment, it would have been more appropriate to use its value to help the needy, illustrating the broader ethical imperative of Christian service.

From the Scholars: Barnes' Notes

Verse 10. Trouble ye the woman. That is disturb her mind by insinuations, as if she had done wrong. A good work upon me. She has done it with a mind grateful, and full of love to me. The work was good, also, as it was preparative to his death, Mt 26:12. __________________________________________________________________
