In Mark 5:25, Jesus encounters a woman who has suffered from a twelve-year-long hemorrhage. The verse "He went with him, and a great multitude followed him, and they pressed upon him on all sides" highlights the crowd's eagerness to witness this encounter. This scene is set in a context where people are intensely curious and eager for healing, pressing closely around Jesus out of both hope and perhaps a sense of spectacle or reverence. The cultural expectation of maintaining personal space was not as stringent then as it might be today, allowing such close proximity that could have made navigation challenging for Jesus and others.
