Mark 11:21

"As they passed by in the morning, they saw the fig tree withered away from the roots."

Key Reflection

In first-century Palestine, fig trees were a common sight and often symbolized bounty and divine favor. When Jesus and his disciples passed by in the morning and saw the fig tree withered away from its roots, it would have been immediately obvious to them as well as to their audience that this was no ordinary withering but a miraculous sign of judgment. This event demonstrated the power of faith and Jesus' ability to command nature itself, highlighting the spiritual truths he wished to convey to his disciples.

From the Scholars: Barnes' Notes

Verse 21. Thou cursedst. To curse means to devote to destruction. This is the meaning here. It does not, in this place, imply blame; but simply that it should be destroyed. __________________________________________________________________
