Leviticus 13:10

"“When the plague of leprosy is in a man, then he shall be brought to the priest;"

Key Reflection

In Leviticus 13:10, when an individual suspected of having leprosy showed signs of the condition, they were to be brought before the priest for examination. This practice underscored the importance of divine authority in diagnosing and managing a disease that was both feared and believed to have spiritual implications. For the original audience, this process not only provided a means to determine if someone was indeed afflicted but also ensured their status within the community; proper diagnosis by a priest would dictate their social and ritual standing, potentially excluding them from communal life until healed or declared unclean.
