John 8:45

"You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and doesn’t stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks on his own; for he is a liar, and the father of lies."

Key Reflection

This passage reveals that those whom Jesus addresses are spiritually tainted by their connection to Satan, embodying his nature of deceit and hostility toward truth. By calling them "of the devil," Jesus underscores their alignment with evil's inherent tendency to murder both physically (as in Cain) and spiritually, and to perpetuate lies as a means of deception.
