Job 35:1

"Job."

Key Reflection

In Job 35:1-3, Elihu challenges Eliphaz's response to Job, emphasizing that wisdom and understanding come not just from hearing what wise men say, but from the direct experience of God’s presence and power. This highlights the idea that true wisdom transcends human teaching and originates in divine revelation.

From the Scholars: Barnes' Notes

Elihu spake -Hebrew,ויעןvaya‛an“And he answered”; the word “answer” being used, as it is often in the Scriptures, to denote the commencement of a discourse. We may suppose that Elihu had paused at the close of his second discourse, possibly with a view to see whether there was any disposition to reply.
