Jeremiah 23:13

"Therefore their way will be to them as slippery places in the darkness. They will be driven on, and fall therein; for I will bring evil on them, even the year of their visitation,” says the LORD."

Key Reflection

This passage portrays the spiritual journey of those who choose wicked paths as treacherous and perilous. In darkness, they are easily led astray and inevitably fall into evil, for which God brings judgment upon them, highlighting the certainty and severity of their fate.

From the Scholars: Barnes' Notes

And I have seen folly ... -Rather, “Also I have seen.” The prophet contrasts the prophets of Samaria with those of Jerusalem. In the conduct of the former God saw folly (literally that which is insipid, as being unsalted). It was stupidity to prophesy by Baal, an idol. In Baal -i. e., in the name of Baal.
