Isaiah 65:7

"“Behold, it is written before me: I will not keep silence, but will repay, yes, I will repay into their bosom"

Key Reflection

This verse signifies that God has recorded the sins of His people and will not remain silent in judgment; instead, He will repay them with justice, ensuring that their offenses return to their own hearts, highlighting the consequences of their actions. It underscores the irreversible nature of divine retribution and the importance of living according to God's laws.

From the Scholars: Barnes' Notes

Your iniquities -Their idolatry and their forsaking God, and their arts of necromancy. And the iniquities of your fathers together -The consequences of your own sins, and of the long defection of the nation from virtue and pure religion, shall come rushing upon you like accumulated floods. This is in accordance with the Scripture doctrine everywhere, that the consequences of the sins of ancestors pass over and visit their posterity (seeExodus 20:5;Exodus 34:7;Numbers 14:18;Job 21:19;Luke 11:50-51; the notes atRomans 5:19). The case here was, that the nation had been characteristically prone to wander from God, and to fall into idolatry.
