Hebrews 11:22

"By faith Jacob, when he was dying, blessed each of the sons of Joseph, and worshiped, leaning on the top of his staff."

Key Reflection

Jacob's actions as recorded in Hebrews 11:22 reflect his deep faith and trust in God's promises. By blessing Joseph's sons and bowing down, he symbolized the continuation of God’s covenant despite his own impending death, foreshadowing how blessings and faith are passed on through generations.

From the Scholars: Barnes' Notes

Verse 22. By faith Joseph, when he died. When about to die. See Ge 50:24,25. Made mention of the departing of the children of Israel. Marg. "remembered." The meaning is, that he called this to their mind; he spake of it. And Joseph said unto his brethren, I die; and God will surely visit you, and bring you out of this land unto the land which he sware to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob." This prediction of Joseph could have rested only on faith in the promise of God. There were no events then occurring which would be likely to lead to this, and nothing which could be a basis of calculation that it would be so, except what God had spoken.
