Daniel 11:7

"At the end of years they will join themselves together; and the daughter of the king of the south will come to the king of the north to make an agreement, but she will not retain the strength of her arm. He will also not stand, nor will his arm; but she will be given up, with those who brought her, and he who became the father of her, and he who strengthened her in those times."

Key Reflection

This passage describes a geopolitical alliance between the southern and northern kingdoms that is ultimately weak and ineffective, symbolizing temporary unity among nations. The collapse of this alliance highlights the fleeting nature of political agreements and points towards eventual divine intervention or judgment in world events.

From the Scholars: Barnes' Notes

But out of a branch of her roots -Compare the notes atIsaiah 11:1. The meaning is, that as a branch or shoot springs up from a tree that is decayed and fallen, so there would spring up some one of her family who would come to avenge her. That is, a person is indicated who would be of a common stock with her; or, in other words, if taken strictly, a brother. The phrase “branch of her roots” is somewhat peculiar. The words “her roots” must refer to her family; that from which she sprang.
