Daniel 11:25

"In time of security he will come even on the fattest places of the province. He will do that which his fathers have not done, nor his fathers’ fathers. He will scatter among them prey, plunder, and wealth. Yes, he will devise his plans against the strongholds, but only for a time."

Key Reflection

This verse describes an adversary who emerges during times of peace and prosperity, exploiting the security to bring about significant harm. He orchestrates attacks that result in plunder and wealth redistribution, temporarily weakening fortified defenses but ultimately achieving his goals for a limited period.

And he shall stir up his power and his courage against the king of the south with a great army -This must refer to a subsequent invasion of Egypt by Antiochus. In the course of his reign he four times invaded that conntry with various degrees of success. In the first, he took Pelusium, and having placed a garrison there, retired into winter-quarters to Tyre. In the second, above referred to, he took Memphis and laid siege to Alexandria. The third invasion here referred to was after he had taken Jerusalem, and was caused by the fact that, as Ptolemy Philometor for was in the hands of Antiochus, the Egyptians had raised Ptolemy Physcon (the Gross) to the throne.
