Psalms 80:7

"You make us a source of contention to our neighbors. Our enemies laugh among themselves."

Key Reflection

This verse speaks of divine judgment, where God's people are seen as a cause for conflict and ridicule by surrounding nations, reflecting the consequences of their disobedience and the resulting chaos in their society that brings shame and mockery upon them.

From the Scholars: Barnes' Notes

Turn us again, O God of hosts ... -This verse is the same asPsalms 80:3, except that here the appeal is to the “God of hosts;” there, it is simply to “God.” This indicates greater earnestness; a deeper sense of the need of the interposition of God, indicated by the reference to his attribute as the leader of hosts or armies, and therefore able to save them.
