Psalms 35:11

"All my bones shall say, “LORD, who is like you, who delivers the poor from him who is too strong for him; yes, the poor and the needy from him who robs him?”"

Key Reflection

This verse highlights the profound trust and gratitude of the psalmist, expressing how even in suffering, bones symbolizing the whole person, cry out to God for deliverance. It underscores the divine power to rescue the vulnerable from oppression, reinforcing the theme of God’s unique ability to provide salvation for the weak and needy.

From the Scholars: Barnes' Notes

False witnesses did rise up -Margin, “witnesses of wrong.” The Hebrew is, “witnesses of “violence,””חמסchâmâs. That is, they were persons who, in what they said of me, were guilty of injustice and wrong. Their conduct was injurious to me as an act of “violence” would be. They laid to my charge -Margin, as in Hebrew: “they asked me.” The word “asked” here seems to be used in the sense of “demand;” that is, they demanded an “answer” to what was said.
