Psalms 148:11

"wild animals and all livestock, small creatures and flying birds,"

Key Reflection

In the ancient world, Psalms 148:11 would have resonated as a call to include all creatures in praising God, from the mighty beasts like lions and elephants to the humble insects and birds. This inclusivity highlighted the divine sovereignty over all creation, emphasizing that no creature was too small or insignificant to be part of the cosmic worship.

From the Scholars: Barnes' Notes

Kings of the earth, and all people -This would embrace all, as all are included in the idea of the rulers and the ruled. Princes, and all judges of the earth -Those of exalted rank; those high in authority. This is proper in itself considered, as they are people like other people; and proper as an example to the rest. None of any rank are exempt from the obligation to praise God; none are cut off from the privilege.
