Psalms 147:16

"He sends out his commandment to the earth. His word runs very swiftly."

Key Reflection

In the time of Psalms, the idea that God’s commands and messages spread rapidly across the land would have resonated as a powerful metaphor for divine authority and presence. The ancient Israelites likely saw this in terms of how their prophets conveyed God's word quickly—swiftly traveling from one person to another or throughout the nation, emphasizing the immediacy and omnipresence of divine instruction.

He giveth snow like wool -He covers the earth with snow, so that it seems to have a clothing of wool. Compare the notes atJob 37:6: “For he saith to the snow, Be thou on the earth.” He scattereth the hoarfrost like ashes -As if ashes were strewed over the earth; or, as easily as one strews ashes.
