Psalms 147:15

"He makes peace in your borders. He fills you with the finest of the wheat."

Key Reflection

In Psalms 147:15, God's sovereignty over nature and His provision for His people are vividly depicted. The first part, "He makes peace in your borders," speaks of divine protection and tranquility across the land, ensuring that peace reigns from one end to another. This reflects a cultural context where borders often marked significant transitions or potential conflicts; thus, God's promise implies comprehensive security. Following this, "He fills you with the finest of the wheat" illustrates abundant provision, highlighting how God abundantly blesses His people not just with general sustenance but with the choicest and most优质的小麦,进一步强调了神不仅满足基本需求,还赐下丰盛的恩典。这种富足不仅仅是指物质层面,更是指神全面而深刻的祝福与供应。

From the Scholars: Barnes' Notes

He sendeth forth his commandment upon earth -That is, with reference to the productions of the earth; to the changes which occur; to the seasons; to snow, frost, ice, cold, heat, wind; and he is universally and immediately obeyed. Nature everywhere yields a ready acquiescence to his will. His word runneth very swiftly -As if it hastened to obey him. There is no delay. Compare the notes atPsalms 33:9: “He spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast.” Snow, and frost, and ice, and cold, and heat, and wind, are entirely obedient to him.
