Psalms 136:24

"who remembered us in our low estate, for his loving kindness endures forever;"

Key Reflection

The psalmist affirms God's enduring mercy by recalling how the Lord has lifted them from a state of distress and humiliation (Ps 136:24). This verse highlights God’s faithfulness, emphasizing that even in their lowly circumstances, He has not forgotten His people, demonstrating his unending lovingkindness. This theme is consistent throughout the Psalms, where repeated calls to remember God's past mercies encourage ongoing trust and praise.

From the Scholars: Barnes' Notes

And hath redeemed us from our enemies -Has rescued or delivered us from all our foes; has given to us freedom and peace. For his mercy ... -By all that he has done in order to redeem us; and by all the prosperity, happiness, and peace which have followed as the result of that, he has showed his mercy. So it is in the greater work of the redemption of the soul.
