Proverbs 3:12

"My son, don’t despise the LORD’s discipline, neither be weary of his correction;"

Key Reflection

This verse emphasizes the importance of embracing God's corrective discipline with humility and perseverance. Just as a father disciplines a child for their benefit, so too does the Lord discipline His children to lead them toward repentance and growth.

From the Scholars: Barnes' Notes

The first distinct utterance of a truth which has been so full of comfort to many thousands; it is the summing up of all controversies (compareJohn 9:2) as to the mystery of suffering. The apostle writing to the Hebrews can find no stronger comfortHebrews 12:6than this; the Church, in her visitation service, has no truer message for the sufferer.
