Numbers 16:39
"even the censers of those who sinned against their own lives. Let them be beaten into plates for a covering of the altar, for they offered them before the LORD. Therefore they are holy. They shall be a sign to the children of Israel.”"
Key Reflection
In Numbers 16:39, Moses and Aaron take the censers used by Korah and his followers in their rebellion against God's authority (Numbers 16:34). These censers, which were sanctified through their offering to the LORD, are beaten into plates to serve as a covering for the altar. This action symbolizes both the judgment on those who challenged divine authority and the sanctification of the offerings that were made in accordance with God’s will. The censers, now transformed into a permanent part of the sanctuary, act as a constant reminder to the Israelites of the consequences of rebelling against God's appointed leaders and the importance of obedience and reverence.
