Matthew 24:47

"Blessed is that servant whom his lord finds doing so when he comes."

Key Reflection

The verse Matthew 24:47 emphasizes the reward for faithful service. In first-century Jewish culture, a master's trust in a servant to manage affairs while he was away was significant. The lord's approval and blessing upon his return symbolize the commendation one receives for diligent work and loyalty. This passage underscores the importance of being prepared and attentive to God’s expectations as His servants, ensuring that when He returns, we will be found faithful.

From the Scholars: Barnes' Notes

Verse 47. Shall make him ruler, etc. Shall confirm his appointment over his household, and, as a reward, shall place him over all his property. This does not mean that ministers shall have a higher rank or office, but is a circumstance of the parable or story, designed to show the effect of faithfulness. Faithful servants of Christ shall be rewarded. This will be done by his approbation, and by the rewards of the heavenly world. {p} "ruler over all his goods" Mt 25:21 __________________________________________________________________
