Matthew 24:38

"As the days of Noah were, so will the coming of the Son of Man be."

Key Reflection

The verse Matthew 24:38 draws a parallel between the days of Noah and the Second Coming of Christ, highlighting a time of normalcy followed by sudden upheaval. Just as people were engaged in everyday activities like eating and drinking before the flood, unaware of impending judgment, so too will humanity be absorbed in its usual routines when the Son of Man returns. This对比提醒听众,尽管生活表面上看似和平与稳定,但灾难的到来往往出人意料。耶稣通过这种类比强调了即将到来的事件的重要性,并呼吁人们为此做好准备。

From the Scholars: Barnes' Notes

Verse 38. For as in the days, etc. The things mentioned here denote attention to the affairs of this life, rather than to what was coming on them. It does not mean that these things were wrong, but only that such was their actual employment, and that they were regardless of what was coming upon them. {l} "until the day" Ge 6:2 __________________________________________________________________
