Matthew 21:10

"The multitudes who went in front of him, and those who followed, kept shouting, “Hosanna to the son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!”"

Key Reflection

These shouts echoed the ancient prophecy from Psalms 118:25–26, where "hosanna" means "save now." The crowd's proclamation hailed Jesus as the long-awaited Messiah, invoking divine blessing and salvation, thus connecting the present moment with the hopes of Israel for a deliverer.

From the Scholars: Barnes' Notes

Verse 10. And when he was come into Jerusalem, all the city was moved. There was great excitement. The sight of such a multitude, the shouts of the people, and the triumphant procession through the city, excited much attention and inquiry. __________________________________________________________________
