Mark 6:3

"When the Sabbath had come, he began to teach in the synagogue, and many hearing him were astonished, saying, “Where did this man get these things?” and, “What is the wisdom that is given to this man, that such mighty works come about by his hands?"

Key Reflection

In Mark 6:3, Jesus returns to his hometown synagogue on the Sabbath, where he begins teaching. The crowd is amazed by both his wisdom and the miracles he performs, questions that reflect their recognition of something unique about him, perhaps hinting at his divine authority or messianic role. This scene highlights a tension between Jesus' ordinary status as a carpenter and the extraordinary significance his teachings and actions reveal, setting up expectations for what is to come in his ministry.
