Malachi 3:13

"“All nations shall call you blessed, for you will be a delightful land,” says the LORD of Armies."

Key Reflection

The verse from Malachi 3:13 speaks to the future restoration and prosperity of Judah, promising that the nation will be seen as a model of blessing among all nations. In the historical context, this promise would have resonated as a reassurance to the exiles returning from Babylonian captivity, assuring them that despite their current hardships, they would eventually enjoy a flourishing land that would serve as an example and bring glory to God’s name.

From the Scholars: Barnes' Notes

Your words have been stout against Me -, probably “oppressive to Me,” as it is said, the famine was strong upon the land. And ye have said, “What have we spoken among ourselves against Thee?” Again, the entire unconsciousness of self-ignorance and self-conceit! They had criticized God, and knew it not. “Before, he had saidMalachi 2:17. ‘Ye have wearied the Lord with your words, and ye said, Wherein have we wearied Him? When ye said, Every one that doeth evil is good in the sight of the Lord’” etc. Now he repeats this more fully.
