Key Reflection

In Leviticus 19:23, the text outlines a specific procedure for atonement. When an individual commits a sin, they are required to bring a ram as a trespass offering. The priest then makes atonement for this sin before the Lord, thereby ensuring that the transgression is forgiven. This ritual underscores the importance of community responsibility and the role of the priest in mediating between the sinner and God, reflecting the broader theme of divine forgiveness and redemption within the biblical narrative.

Fruit ... uncircumcised -i. e. unfit for presentation to Yahweh. In regard to its spiritual lesson, this law may be compared with the dedication of the first-born of beasts to YahwehExodus 13:12;Exodus 34:19. Its meaning in a moral point of view was plain, and tended to illustrate the spirit of the whole Law.
