Judges 2:13
"They abandoned the LORD, the God of their fathers, who brought them out of the land of Egypt, and followed other gods, of the gods of the peoples who were around them, and bowed themselves down to them; and they provoked the LORD to anger."
Key Reflection
The people of Israel turned away from the Lord who had delivered them from slavery in Egypt, embracing instead the gods of neighboring nations. This act not only demonstrated a profound lack of gratitude but also directly angered the Lord, as he was the one who had shown them such great mercy and salvation. The original audience would have understood this narrative through their own historical experiences, recognizing that forsaking the true God for false idols was both rebellious and insulting to the One who had performed miracles on their behalf.
