Key Reflection

After the conquest of Canaan and the division of the land among the Israelites, Joshua sent the people away to their respective inheritances. This action symbolized the fulfillment of God's promise to give the land to Abraham’s descendants (Genesis 12:7). The original audience would have understood this as a final act of leadership by Joshua, marking the end of his tenure and signaling the establishment of the Israelite tribes in their designated territories, each ready to establish their own communities and begin the process of nation-building.
