Key Reflection

This passage highlights the growing faith among the crowd as they witness Jesus' miracles. Their statement suggests a recognition of Jesus' divine authority, comparing him to the awaited Messiah and indicating that his deeds alone could establish his claim to be the Christ.

From the Scholars: Barnes' Notes

Verse 32. The people murmured such things. That is, that the question was agitated whether he was the Messiah; that it excited debate and contention; and that the consequence was, he made many friends. They chose, therefore, if possible, to remove him from them. __________________________________________________________________
