Jeremiah 7:16

"I will cast you out of my sight, as I have cast out all your brothers, even the whole offspring of Ephraim."

Key Reflection

This verse conveys a powerful message of divine judgment and rejection. By comparing Israel’s exile to that of their northern counterparts, the Lord emphasizes the severity of their impending punishment, highlighting the consequences of persistent disobedience and idolatry.

From the Scholars: Barnes' Notes

They had reached that stage in which men sin without any sense of guilt (see1 John 5:16). Neither make intercession to me -InJeremiah 14:7-9we have an intercessory prayer offered by Jeremiah, but not heard. The intercession of Moses prevailed with GodNumbers 11:2;Numbers 14:13-20;Numbers 16:22, because the progress of the people then wins upward; the progress now was from bad to worse, and therefore inJeremiah 15:1we read that the intercession even of Moses and Samuel (see1 Samuel 12:23) would profit nothing.
