Jeremiah 6:14

"“For from their least even to their greatest, everyone is given to covetousness. From the prophet even to the priest, everyone deals falsely."

Key Reflection

In Jeremiah 6:14, the prophet describes a deeply corrupt society where greed and dishonesty have permeated every level of the community, from the lowest social strata to the highest. This includes both common people and religious leaders like prophets and priests, indicating that societal decay has reached even those who should be setting ethical standards. The cultural context highlights the severity of this moral failure—where religious institutions, which are supposed to uphold integrity, are also complicit in widespread deceit and selfishness.
