Jeremiah 31:6

"Again you will plant vineyards on the mountains of Samaria. The planters will plant, and will enjoy its fruit."

Key Reflection

In Jeremiah's time, the people of Samaria were known for their vineyards, which were often associated with wealth and prosperity. By predicting that vineyards would once again be planted on these mountains, Jeremiah was not only foretelling a return to agricultural productivity but also symbolizing the restoration of the Israelites following their exile. This vision promised a future where God’s people would thrive, enjoying the fruits of their labor in a way reminiscent of their past glory.

From the Scholars: Barnes' Notes

This verse anticipates a time when the schism caused by Jeroboam is over. Ephraimite watchmen equally with the tribe of Judah watch for the new moon that they may go up to Jerusalem to keep the appointed Feasts.
