Jeremiah 25:1

"Jeremiah."

Key Reflection

In the first year of Nebuchadnezzar's reign, Jeremiah delivered a message intended for all the people of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem. This setting places the prophecy within the broader context of Judah's relationship with Babylon, as Nebuchadnezzar would go on to become a key figure in the Babylonian Exile, making this warning particularly timely and relevant for the people facing potential judgment or captivity.

From the Scholars: Barnes' Notes

The fourth year -SeeDaniel 1:1note. This invasion of Judaea, in which Daniel was carried captive to Babylon, was according to the date of the years the fourth, but according to the actual time the third, year of the Jewish king. Nebuchadnezzar was not yet fully king, but associated with his father Nabopalassar.
