Jeremiah 13:5

Key Reflection

In Jeremiah 13:5, God instructs the prophet to take a belt he has purchased, remove it from his waist, and bury it at the Euphrates River in a hidden place. This action symbolizes the inevitable decay and uselessness of the nation of Judah due to its disobedience and idolatry. Just as the belt will rot away when uncovered, so too will the pride and prosperity of Judah eventually wither and be rendered ineffective.
