Haggai 1:6
"You have sown much, and bring in little. You eat, but you don’t have enough. You drink, but you aren’t filled with drink. You clothe yourselves, but no one is warm; and he who earns wages earns wages to put them into a bag with holes in it.’"
Key Reflection
In Haggai 1:6, these verses illustrate the spiritual principle that despite outward efforts and labors, without God's blessing, true fulfillment is unattainable. The imagery of sowing much but reaping little, eating yet remaining hungry, and working hard only to have wages fall through a hole in the bag symbolizes the futility of relying solely on human effort rather than trusting in divine provision.
