Exodus 16:22

"They gathered it morning by morning, everyone according to his eating. When the sun grew hot, it melted."

Key Reflection

The Israelites, following Moses' instructions after receiving manna from God, collected their daily share of the divine bread in the morning. By midday, when the heat intensified, any remaining manna would melt and spoil, reinforcing the necessity to gather just enough for each person’s needs as instructed by Moses. This practice underscored the immediate consumption required and the reliance on God's provision rather than storage or hoarding.

From the Scholars: Barnes' Notes

Twice as much bread -SeeExodus 16:5. From this passage and fromExodus 16:5it is inferred that the seventh day was previously known to the people as a day separate from all others, and if so, it must have been observed as an ancient and primeval institution.
