Acts 10:17

"This was done three times, and immediately the thing was received up into heaven."

Key Reflection

In Acts 10:17, Peter experiences a divine vision that repeats itself three times before the experience ascends to heaven. This repetition is significant, as it underscores the seriousness and importance of what Peter is witnessing—a moment that transitions from earthly occurrence to heavenly affirmation. The immediate lifting into heaven symbolizes the supernatural confirmation of God's will and the opening of salvation to Gentiles, a pivotal moment in Christian history.

From the Scholars: Barnes' Notes

Verse 17. Doubted in himself. Doubted in his own mind. He was perplexed to understand it. Behold, the men, etc. We see here an admirable arrangement of the events of Providence to fit each other. Every part of this transaction is made to harmonize with every other part; and it was so arranged, that, just in the moment when the mind of Peter was filled with perplexity, the very event should occur which should relieve him of his embarrassment. Such a coincidence is not uncommon.
