Zechariah 14:18

"It will be that whoever of all the families of the earth doesn’t go up to Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD of Armies, on them there will be no rain."

Key Reflection

This verse highlights the importance of spiritual worship and obedience to God’s commands. Just as physical rainfall is essential for earthly sustenance, divine blessing and fertility are contingent upon recognizing and worshipping the true King, Jesus Christ, in Jerusalem, symbolizing the spiritual center of faith.

From the Scholars: Barnes' Notes

And if the family of Egypt go not up, and come not, that have no rain -Rather, “and there shall not be.” It may be that the prophet chose this elliptical form, as well knowing that the symbol did not hold as to Egypt, which, however it ultimately depended on the equatorial rains which overfilled the lakes which supply the Nile, did not need that fine arrangement of the rains of Autumn and Spring which were essential to the fruitfulness of Palestine.
