Zechariah 11:8
"So I fed the flock to be slaughtered, especially the oppressed of the flock. I took for myself two staffs. The one I called “Favor” and the other I called “Union”, and I fed the flock."
Key Reflection
In Zechariah 11:8, God uses the imagery of a shepherd to convey his care for his people, even as they are destined for sacrifice. By naming two staffs "Favor" and "Union," he emphasizes his intention to unite his flock and show favor upon them despite their oppression and impending suffering.
