Psalms 71:7

"I have relied on you from the womb. You are he who took me out of my mother’s womb. I will always praise you."

Key Reflection

This verse highlights the deep trust and reliance a person places on God from an early age, emphasizing that this trust is not just a childhood sentiment but a lifelong commitment to praising and honoring God for His provision and protection from conception onward. It underscores the divine sovereignty in every stage of life, from the earliest moments of existence.

From the Scholars: Barnes' Notes

I am as a wonder unto many -The word here rendered “wonder” -מופתmôphêth- means properly a miracle, a prodigy; then things that are suited to excite wonder or admiration; then, a sign, a token. See the notes atIsaiah 8:18. The meaning here is, that the course of things in regard to him - the divine dealings toward him - had been such as to excite attention; to strike the mind as something unusual, and out of the common course, in the same way that miracles do.
