Proverbs 16:24

"The heart of the wise instructs his mouth, and adds learning to his lips."

Key Reflection

This verse suggests that wisdom not only shapes what one says but also enhances speech with thoughtful insight. The wise person’s words are guided by a deep understanding of moral and practical truths, making them both meaningful and instructive to others.

From the Scholars: Barnes' Notes

Honey took its place not only among the luxuries, but among the medicines of the Israelites. This two-fold use made it all the more suitable to be an emblem both of the true Wisdom which is also true obedience, and of the “pleasant words” in which that Wisdom speaks.
