Mark 1:41
"A leper came to him, begging him, kneeling down to him, and saying to him, “If you want to, you can make me clean.”"
Key Reflection
In first-century Israel, leprosy was considered a severe and contagious skin disease that rendered an individual unclean according to Levitical laws (Leviticus 13-14). A leper's approach to Jesus, kneeling down and begging for healing, would have been seen as both a sign of desperation and a plea for divine intervention. The crowd witnessing this scene would have recognized the gravity of the situation and understood that only God had the power to cleanse such a person from their unclean state.
