Luke 19:43

"saying, “If you, even you, had known today the things which belong to your peace! But now, they are hidden from your eyes."

Key Reflection

This passage suggests that Jerusalem's leaders failed to recognize the opportunity for peace and salvation that Jesus offered during his visit. Instead of embracing the divine wisdom at hand, they remained blind to it, which would later result in their destruction (Luke 19:43). The hiddenness refers both to the spiritual blindness of the leadership and the impending judgment from God.
