You are not alone, and your life matters to God and to the people around you. In Luke 18:2, Jesus tells his listeners through a parable about the importance of persistent prayer. This parable underscores the idea that prayer should be continuous and unwavering, even when it seems like one's prayers are unanswered or unheeded. The cultural context of first-century Palestine highlights the significance of perseverance; just as a judge in a parable might eventually listen to someone who keeps asking for justice, God too listens to those who pray without ceasing.

From the Scholars: Barnes' Notes

Verse 2. A judge which feared not God. One appointed by law to determine causes brought before him. This judge had no reverence for God, and consequently no regard for the rights of man. These two things go together. He that has no regard for God can be expected to have none for man; and our Lord has here indirectly taught us what ought to be the character of a judge--that he should fear God and regard the rights of man. Comp. De 1:16,17. Regarded man. Cared not for man. Had no respect for the opinions or the rights of man.
