Luke 14:34

"So therefore, whoever of you who doesn’t renounce all that he has, he can’t be my disciple."

Key Reflection

In Luke 14:34, Jesus emphasizes the necessity of complete dedication to His teachings and following. This verse builds on the broader theme of renunciation and commitment that He presents throughout the Gospel. The idea is that true discipleship requires forsaking all personal attachments and possessions in order to fully align with Christ's message and mission. This was particularly poignant in a culture where material wealth often indicated status, making such renunciation challenging but essential for genuine faith and discipleship.

It becomes tasteless or insipid. Be seasoned. Be salted again. Fit for the land. Rather, it is not fit for land---that is, it will not bear fruit of itself. You cannot sow or plant on it.
