The crowd inquired of the man who had regained his sight, "How were your eyes opened?" This question was significant because it occurred after Jesus had healed him by applying mud and directing him to wash at the pool of Siloam. In first-century Jewish culture, such a healing was perceived as a miraculous intervention from God, and the crowd's curiosity reflected both their desire for understanding and perhaps an underlying skepticism about the source of this miracle.
