Job 28:19

"No mention will be made of coral or of crystal. Yes, the price of wisdom is above rubies."

Key Reflection

In the ancient Near East, precious materials like coral and crystal were highly valued for their beauty and rarity, often used in jewelry and decoration. Job 28:19 emphasizes that even these valuable resources cannot compare to the worth of wisdom. For the original audience, this verse would have highlighted how deeply wisdom was esteemed, surpassing even the most prized physical objects, reflecting the profound value placed on understanding and knowledge by God's people.
